senior design manager - corporate brand environments, graphics, outreach & heritage
General Motors

Rebecca Waldmeir is Senior Design Manager for GM Corporate Environments, Graphics, Outreach and Archives at General Motors. She also leads Architecture and Experience Design, overseeing the design of GM spaces and user interactions, including architectural environments, retail and global dealership spaces and workplace experiences aligned with GM’s brand vision and customer experience needs. Her work extends the design discipline beyond the vehicle, connecting architecture, materials, finishes, graphics, visual identity and employee experience across the company.
Waldmeir’s recent work includes GM’s new global headquarters at Hudson’s Detroit. As part of the broader design team, she helped shape flexible collaboration areas, materials and finishes, technology-enabled workspaces and spaces for displaying GM vehicles, concepts and archival artifacts. The headquarters incorporates references to GM’s Global Technical Center in Warren and the architectural influence of Eero Saarinen, connecting a contemporary workplace to the company’s design heritage.
Since joining GM in 2005, Waldmeir has held design roles spanning architecture and experience, digital vehicle experiences, global exterior color and material innovation and color and trim for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. She served as Design Manager for Cadillac and Buick Digital Experience between 2022 and 2024, developing branded digital vehicle experiences that connected vehicle design, user interface and customer experience. During that time she supported the Opulent Velocity concept car.
Earlier in her career, she supported color and trim projects for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac, including the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and served as color and trim design manager for Buick, GMC and Chevrolet trucks. Her Buick work included the Avenir concept and the development of interior finishes, wheel finishes and exterior paint colors that supported the brand’s design direction.
Waldmeir’s career reflects the breadth of GM Industrial Design, from vehicle CMF development to digital experience, architecture and branded environments. Her work focuses on creating spaces and interactions that bring people together, communicate brand character and express GM’s history and future through the experiences people share.
In 2005, Waldmeir earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
